Applications

Glass

TCE offers a range of soda ash grades, in terms of densities and particle size distribution, for various applications. The single largest use of heavy soda ash is in the manufacture of glass.

The soda ash that TCE makes meets the stringent quality requirements of the glass industry. The bulk density of TCE's soda ash ensures uniform blending of the furnace batch, the low chloride helps to prolong furnace life. Heavy ash grains are typically smaller than grains of sand; the finer soda ash grain distributes more evenly on the surface of silica grains, ensuring early removal of CO2, which is essential in the production of glass.

Soda ash also acts as a fluxing agent in the furnace. It plays a vital role by reducing the furnace temperature necessary to melt the silica used, reducing the amount of energy required to produce glass.
